Discovering Kin Kin trail loops.

Discovered KinKin, a hidden gem in South East Queensland. 3.5-hour drive north, arrived at the showground by 10:30. Perfect timing - had the oval to ourselves. KinKin offers peaceful countryside, starry nights, and a chance to unwind. It's an ideal spot for those seeking a quiet getaway in the Sunshine Coast hinterland.

Warming up in the morning sunshine
Wet setup and have lunch then head out of town for a walk up the ridge with wonderful blue sky views to the coast. Home for dinner and fire then bed. temp dropped to 6 degrees by bedtime The teardrop stays warm.

Afternoon on the ridge, looking east to Noosa

Next morn, up at sunrise. Ice everywhere. Stand in sunshine to warm up before embarking on 23 km loop. Wind got up in afternoon which made cooking more difficult than normal. Further east on the coast the winds were destructive.

It going to get cold. Campfire and showground

Another day another trail

Morning 3 Drive back to Pomona and do the Cooroorong summit whilst Tracey does the rail trail to Cooran. The summit climb is short but steep enough to challenge many. The chains help with the rock scrambling. Then back to Pomona to stock up on fresh caffeine, some fresh vegies then back to our home on the oval.

Our home at Kin Kin

The oval conveniently borders a historic pub – an opportunity we couldn't resist. We strolled over to rehydrate in the garden. As Hemingway might say, "It was good." Another evening by the cozy fire, followed by the luxury of a warm shower courtesy of the Kin Kin sports club. Pure bliss.

No so cold tonight, but windy and clear

Handheld night sky. (Sagittarius)

Final morning, pack and head to Cooran for town rail trail loop and then back into the car and head home.

Morning to ourselves
