Easter Adventure at Spicers Gap: Scenic Hikes and an Unexpected Lesson in Camping Preparedness

Hello again readers.

Easter break 2024  rolled around, and we couldn't resist the call of the wild. Our destination? Spicers Gap campsite, a hidden gem just a 3-hour drive northwest from home. Pro tip: bookings are essential, but you get to pick your own site when you arrive. It's like choosing your own adventure!

Spicers Gap is the epitome of peace and isolation. If you're looking to disconnect and recharge, this is your spot. The campsite is surrounded by stunning scenery and offers some fantastic walks. We tackled two main trails during our stay - Governors Chair and Mount Mathieson Trail. Both offered breathtaking views that made every step worth it.

Now, here's where our tale takes an unexpected turn. Picture this: it's time to head home, we're all packed up, ready to go... and the car won't start. Yep, you read that right. Our Nissan X-Trail, despite being electric, relies on a small 12V battery to power up the computer and operate the rear electric door. After three days of use (and maybe a few too many times opening and closing that fancy rear door), the 12v battery was flatter than a pancake.

But fear not! In true camping spirit, a kind neighbour came to our rescue with a lithium starter pack. Crisis averted!

Lesson learned. We're now proud owners of our very own starter battery pack.
Remember, even the most seasoned campers can get caught out. Always be prepared, and don't be afraid to ask for help when you need it. After all, isn't that what the camping community is all about?

Until our next (hopefully less eventful) adventure, happy camping!
