How to enjoy a two night getaway at Boorkoom, Diggers Camp.

Boorkoom campground is a clifftop camping site in Yuraygir National Park, near Wooli in New South Wales. It has 11 campsites that are suitable for tents, caravans and camper trailers. It is a great place to enjoy beach activities, fishing, surfing whale watching and walking tracks.

Almost a resort. Site 2 is awesome.

We decided to spend a weekend there with our teardrop trailer, and we had a wonderful time. We left work on Friday afternoon and drove south for two hours, passing through the picturesque country village of Tucabia. We arrived at the campground and found a spacious and grassy site. We attached the tent, rolled out the annexe, and started a fire. We enjoyed the sunset and the sound of the waves crashing on the rocks below, before retiring to the cosiness of the teardrop for the night.

The next morning, we woke up early and went for a walk north from the campground to Minnie Water, a small coastal village with a cafe and a general store. We enjoyed a coffee, and then walked back along the beach. We saw several whales and dolphins swimming in the distance.

In the afternoon, we explored the campground and looked for other sites that we might want to book next time. There are 11 campsites in total, and they are all suitable for tents, small caravans and camper trailers. They have toilets, picnic tables and barbecue facilities, but you need to bring your own drinking water, cooking water and firewood. You also need to pay the park entry fees and book online or by phone.

We spent the rest of the day swimming and relaxing on the beach right below our clifftop perch. The water was clear and refreshing, and the pebbles were smooth and shiny. as the shadows lengthened, we climbed the stairs back up the cliff to our luxurious site.

On Sunday, we packed up the teardrop and went for one last walk around the spectacular Wilson Head, a rocky headland that offers panoramic views of the ocean and the coast. It was a 5km out and back walk, and it was well worth it. We saw some pelicans and seagulls amongst the surfing locals and we took a few photos of the scenery.

We left the campground feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. It was a short but sweet escape from the everyday, and we can’t wait to go back.
