Bald Rock...Trip #06

Christmas day. Up early and swim the crystal clear Brunswick River in what was the highest tide of the year.

Then home again to pack the WotPod, charge the battery, get the fridge cold. Throw some clothes in the back, and some food into the kitchen, and then head off for the 300km trip to Bald Rock camp site, where we had booked 2 nights.

We arrived at 4:30 pm to a quiet campsite with lots of firewood. It wasn’t long before we had the fire burning and food in our stomachs. As soon as it was almost dark, 8:20 pm, we hit the sack, set the alarm for first light, 5:15 am, and had another comfortable night sleep in the WotPod.

At first light we were up making coffee, then we began the sometimes challenging 6.5 k round trip through a slowly waking forest. Up through giant granite boulders (titans) and onto the windy mist shrouded rock itself.

Spectacular changing light, glimpses of sun. Wind and cold, and of course the beautiful wildflowers.
