Red Cliff Camping Escape: Tranquillity North of Brooms Head

After wrapping up work, we hit the road and drove 90 minutes south, arriving at Red Cliff just in time to set up camp and prepare dinner before sunset. The wind was brisk, but we were fortunate to have booked site 74, a sheltered spot, making the evening cosy and relaxing.

The next morning, Saturday, we woke at first light to the sound of the ocean and decided to explore the area. A scenic 5 km run loop awaited us, winding through coastal heath and leading to breathtaking cliff-top views. The trail was a mix of natural beauty and invigorating sea breezes, making it the perfect way to start the day.

A great 5 km loop for running

Then coffee and sit and read on our private little grassy viewing area. Site 74 is perfect for us. Small and sheltered and private. This was the first time we used our upgraded awning tent from ARB and it worked really well.

On Saturday, we had an unexpected visitor at our campsite—a large grey kangaroo casually hopped in and started nibbling around. We respected each other's space, and after a few moments, they moved on, leaving us with a memorable wildlife encounter to add to the experience.

Rather large local

Grey Cliff proved to be an ideal escape – just far enough to feel like an adventure, yet close enough for a quick weekend getaway. The combination of coastal serenity and stunning trails left us refreshed and already planning our next visit.
