From the comfort of Camp Blackman, we ventured off to Mudgee for the day, an easy trip with a couple of memorable stops. First up was an emu farm—though not the most common stop, it was a quirky little experience! We then swung by a local cheese shop at Mendooran, though, unfortunately, they were all out of cheese this time.

We set up camp at the Mudgee Showground, where we found a couple of free perks: laundry and showers. After taking advantage of both, we popped into town for a grocery top-up and settled in for an early night.

The next day started with a brisk jog around the blocks before the day really began with one of the best coffees I’ve had in a while at Mr. X. We then set off for some wine and spirit tasting. Mudgee's wine region didn’t disappoint, and we even tried the local Mudgee Negroni—though a bit sweet for my taste! For dinner, we hit Roths Winebar and Cellar, for pizza and local flavour.

Our road trip continued next day with a long drive from Mudgee to Wollomombi, making a stop at the Drip for a very pleasant walk. and a quick stop in Gunnedah for lunch and topping off our water tanks with clean, filtered water just outside Armidale’s Bunnings—a steal at 100 litres for just $1.
